The biggest story in English football this week has nothing to do with a scoreline. An independent Premier League commission has found Manchester City guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against them for alleged breaches of top-flight financial rules between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons, covering everything from sham sponsorship income to misstated manager and player pay. No sanction has yet been set — the commission must publish its full written judgment before punishment is decided, City are expected to appeal, and rivals including Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are watching closely as the process could run into 2027.
On the pitch, Harry Kane marked a record-equalling 125th England cap in style, scoring twice and setting up a third as England thrashed Czechia 3-0 in their UEFA Nations League clash earlier this week, with Vladimír Coufal's own goal opening the scoring before Kane struck either side of half-time. It leaves Thomas Tuchel's side in good heart heading towards the Nations League quarter-final places.
Off the pitch, Arsenal have been making headlines of their own: Declan Rice is reported to be closing in on a new long-term contract at the Emirates, while manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new deal worth a reported £20m a year, making him the Premier League's highest-paid head coach.
With no Premier League action in midweek, attention now turns to a bumper Friday of British racing, headlined by Newmarket's Future Champions Day, before a full weekend Premier League programme gets under way on Saturday.
There's no top-flight action on Friday itself, but the EFL Championship sees West Ham United host Queens Park Rangers at the London Stadium, kicking off at , while in the National League Sutton United face Boreham Wood from . The big guns return at the weekend: Saturday brings Arsenal v Leeds United (, Emirates Stadium) and Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur (, Old Trafford), with Villa-Brentford, Chelsea-Bournemouth, Ipswich-Fulham and Sunderland-Brighton all kicking off at . Sunday's standout is Liverpool v Manchester City at Anfield () — City's first match since Tuesday's guilty verdict — alongside Crystal Palace-Nottingham Forest and Hull-Everton, both at .
Newmarket stages Future Champions Day, running from to on good to firm going, with the Group 1 bet365 Fillies' Mile at the showpiece, supported by the Group 3 Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes (), the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes () and the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (). Chepstow's jumps card (–) is built around the Grade 2 Persian War Novices' Hurdle at , while York also stages seven Flat races from .
The Singapore Grand Prix weekend gets going under the Marina Bay lights, with Free Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying on Friday. McLaren's Lando Norris sits fifth in the drivers' standings on 188 points, flying the British flag as Kimi Antonelli leads George Russell by 84 points at the top, with Max Verstappen fresh off his win at the relocated Malaysia-hosted "Bahrain" Grand Prix.
Selection: Musical Times (Charlie Appleby/William Buick) to win the Group 1 bet365 Fillies' Mile at Newmarket (14:57). Reasoning: The unbeaten Godolphin filly has won at Newmarket's July Course, York and Doncaster, most recently thrashing her rivals by 7½ lengths in the May Hill Stakes, and heads a strong eight-runner field as the new 1,000 Guineas favourite. Short, but the form stacks up against the likes of Rogue Passion (10/3) and Forbidden Fire (10/1).
Selection: Lord Byron to win the Grade 2 Persian War Novices' Hurdle at Chepstow (15:43). Reasoning: A smart performer over hurdles last season who contested the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham, Lord Byron is the clear NAP across several tipping services this morning and looks to have the class edge over fellow Triumph alumnus North Shore and the in-form Cosmic Connection.
Selection: Manchester United to win at home to Tottenham (Saturday, 17:30). Reasoning: Spurs arrive without a Premier League win under Robert De Zerbi and sit 20th in the table, while United, though winless in four, have home advantage and the firepower of Bryan Mbeumo, who has seven goal involvements in his last six league meetings with Tottenham.
Selection: Manchester City to win away at Liverpool (Sunday, 16:30). Reasoning: City have won three straight against Liverpool and will want to make a statement in their first match since Tuesday's guilty verdict; markets have this as a tight contest, but City's recent dominance of this fixture edges the value their way at 8/5.
Selection: Arsenal to beat Leeds United at home (Saturday, 12:30). Reasoning: Arsenal are well backed to continue their strong home record, with most models expecting a low-scoring, controlled win; Leeds have struggled on the road this season, making the Gunners' short price a solid banker leg for multiples.
Declan Rice is reportedly closing in on a new long-term contract at Arsenal, rewarding a player who has become central to Mikel Arteta's midfield. Arteta himself has already signed a new deal worth around £20m a year, making him the division's best-paid manager — a sign of the club's ambition this season.
Bournemouth's Alex Scott withdrew from the England squad during the September/October international window with a quadriceps injury and is expected to be out until around 21 November — a blow given that three Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, who have made contact over a potential move, are chasing the highly-rated midfielder. Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa also left England camp after his quad problem worsened across two starts, with Thomas Tuchel managing the issue carefully ahead of the Nations League quarter-final run-in.
Left-back Nico O'Reilly returned to Manchester City for assessment on an injury picked up on England duty against Spain, prompting Pep Guardiola to call up club team-mate Rico Lewis as cover. The timing is awkward for City, who head to Anfield on Sunday for the first time since Tuesday's guilty verdict on 114 Premier League financial charges.
Robert De Zerbi's Tottenham remain without a Premier League win this season and sit 20th in the table heading into Saturday's trip to Old Trafford, with pressure building on the squad to find an answer before the gap to safety grows further.
For over 16 years, Betfan has built a reputation as one of the UK's leading tipping platforms — trusted by serious punters looking for professional services, transparent proofing and long-term betting value.
Behind every selection is a team of dedicated professional tipsters working tirelessly in the background — the form book, the going, the draw, the market moves — so that the information reaching you is the information that is actually worth having.
Unlike many services online, our results are not manually typed into spreadsheets or hidden behind vague screenshots. Every result is date-stamped, tracked and verified directly through our platform so members can see genuine performance from day one.
There's a reason Betfan has been around for over 16 years — still operating, still proofing, still standing while countless competitors have disappeared.
This is not hype. This is real proofing, real services and real long-term performance.
They work tirelessly in the background, long before racing starts: form, going, the draw, market moves, the small details most punters never get time to check. They do that work so you don't have to, and so the information that reaches you is the information worth having.
