Hi %%First Name%%,

A very busy week ends with the Don scratching his head after tough times on the Knavesmire and back on home turf at Newmarket yesterday.

Richard Kingscote is fast becoming the Dons nemesis and anyone who witnessed his comical ride on Brown Panther at York will be even less of a fan now. By the look of Michael Owens face and the Betting beforehand Brown Panther may well have been backed beforehand so Kingscotes efforts will have been magnified further. It didn't help his cause that Ryan Moore riding at the peak of his powers was up against him in a close finish but this was still a rank bad ride in a big important race.

The Dante the leading Derby Trial led to a flurry of people around the pre parade ring. I even spotted Andy Bell and a host of Betfan cronies there perhaps they had got lost. What was clear was that JFK the Aiden O'Brian horse possesses the loudest vocal chords in the equine world and he had to be re saddled to try and keep him calm. Jack Hobbs the recent handicap winner looks a huge bull of a horse and was by far the fittest on show. I could see why Frankie had picked him allowing Buick to ride the other Gosden horse Golden Horn. Elm Park looked as though he badly needed the race to me and was a lay.

In the race itself Golden Horn looked the winner miles out and had oodles in hand over Jack Hobbs. He will need supplementing but I'm sure he will be even if Gosden will need to twist the arm of his owner. One slight negative is he didn't beat Elm Park that far and I'm convinced he hasn't trained on and the O'Brian pair were garbage so I've a nagging doubt this race may be overrated. At this stage my idea of the Epsom winner is the Irish horse Zawraq who goes straight there. Put it this way the Don would rather back him at 6/1 than Golden Horn at 2/1!

Shout it from the rooftops there is a good flat meeting today and it's Ripon on the mainland. I'm sure this is an oversight and as I write the BHA are holding an enquiry into how it slipped through their guidelines but let's enjoy it. My bet is Secret Hint in the 3.15 at 5/2 with Betvictor. Andrew Balding trains and though this is a good race she looks to have more class than this field.

Enjoy the meeting and your Sunday.

And remember Trust in the Don he's A number 1.

Back next Sunday.
