I finished second in the Irish Field naps competition last year (to a freakish winner, Margie McLoone, a lovely lady who tips 40/1 shots and is normally anchored at the foot of the table) and some of my late winners in that were Mount Colah 12/1 and Space Cadet 13/2, the last winner on the last day of the competition.

My last day for The Irish Sun - who in a highly controversial move which caused consternation in both the Dublin and London offices decided they no longer needed a Racing Correspondent - I had Tony McCoy's Irish Hennessy winner Carlingford Lough 4/1 and again a winning last race nap Archive 4/1.

Since then I remain a regular racegoer, and I've done occasional tipping on Twitter just to keep my eye in.

Historically my big tipping claim to fame is that I had the first five winners - from six races - on the opening day at Cheltenham in 2000 which made front and back page news. I also tipped two 20/1 Galway Plate winners in three years, and the Powers Gold Cup on Easter Sunday - now the Ryanair Gold Cup - has also been very lucky for me with Jadanli 25/1 and One Cool Cookie 12/1 winners which immediately spring to mind.

For all that jumping success, the Irish flat racing scene is my speciality, I never miss a meeting at The Curragh and - with all due modesty - nobody comes near my in depth knowledge and achievements.
