Scotland Can Win In Slovenia - By Rick Elliott

8th October 2017

Scotland have not qualified for the World Cup finals since 1998 but they have a route to Russia next summer by beating Slovenia away from home and finishing second in the group. Both sides need to win to keep their hopes alive but the mathematics are heavily in favour of the Scots. A draw could not be enough because Slovakia would overhaul them with a win in Malta.

However, taking second spot does not mean a place in the playoffs is secured because the team in second place with the worst record will miss out. SCOTLAND have finished qualifying in decent form and should be backed at to beat Slovenia today at 8/5 with Ladbrokes. England (v Lithuania) and Northern Ireland (v Norway) are playing in dead runners with nothing at stake but pride in the two away fixtures.

There is no Flat racing in Britain today and all roads are leading to Champions Day at Ascot in two weeks. The richest single day meeting of the season is in contrast to the fare on offer at Uttoxeter and Kelso this afternoon. Sunday racing was supposed to provide decent action on a second leisure day but the racing is ordinary at best.

At around even money Beyond The Clouds won’t make you wealthy but the horse is the standout racing bet today. He was impressive in winning two from three bumpers and can translate the form into hurdling. BEYOND THE CLOUDS has been reported to have schooled well and a win in a first hurdle race is on the cards at Kelso.

It’s week 5 in the NFL and the best bet of the schedule is Seattle to beat LA Rams on the road. The money line betting is just about even but Seattle are in good form and can post an away win. The Rams look solid all over the pitch but face a tough challenge when hosting SEATTLE and the visitors can prevail (21/20 with Coral).

ENGLAND are a ridiculous price at 20/1 to win the Word Cup and even with a nought on the end of that number are a bet to avoid! Scotland may or may not be playing in the finals in 2018.

Best Wishes.
