30th August 2017

Hi ,

Just one day to transfer deadline day and all the Sky sports team will be decked out in in yellow dresses well at least the girls will, while the guys have on their yellow ties. I wonder does anyone one know why they must wear yellow to bring us the transfer news?

It’s amazing three games into the Premier season and the knives are out for Arsene Wenger. This is the man who revolutionised the way we play in England. The man who has won a stack of trophies including the F.A. cup three times in the last four years yet the ignorance of some fans and pundits is deplorable with such a lack of respect.

I read a very interesting article this week regarding a new state of the art rehabilitation centre for horses at Longholes near Newmarket. It’s a wonderful place where crocked horses can go to recover from injuries. The facilities include underwater treadmills and vibrating floors and all in all it’s just like a holiday home where horses can go to rest and recover before going back into training.

Today's racing is pretty much ordinary after the superb York meeting but a winner doesn’t pay anymore at the big meetings than the gaff tracks. So for Howies Hottie I’m off to Bellewstown in Ireland.

Bellewstown is a beautiful place with the Mountains of Mourne to the North and the Irish Sea to the East. Racing dates back to 1726 when the first meeting was recorded in the Irish Gazette. I’m going to play in the 5.15 on an eye-catcher of mine Gold Struck who was noted staying on strongly from the back last time. In fact if he had got rolling earlier he would certainly have won last time so we could say he his very nearly a winner without a penalty.

EYE-CATCHERS

FLAT

Flaming Spear trainer K.Ryan - I was shouting this horse from the roof tops last week and you could have picked up a free 10/1 winner by logging on to my Facebook page. The Tony Bloom owned gelding romped in and can win again in higher grade.

Lansky trainer J.Noseda - Ran on well at York from a wide draw and the run can be upgraded.

Natural Society trainer S.Bin Suroor - Finished well in the Ebor after not getting a clear run.

Clever Cookie trainer P.Niven - Also noted staying on in the Ebor and can pick up a staying handicap.

Gabriels Kaka trainer R.Fahey - Not beaten far at Chester and was running on in the short straight. He is well handicapped and can win especially on soft ground.

Back next Wednesday be lucky.

Howard Davis-Shaw.
