14th June 2017

Hi ,

Today we have a fantastic cricket semi final for the Champions Trophy between England and Pakistan which should prove to be a cracker with the weather set to be a scorcher. Mind you it won’t be easy against the Pakistan bowling attack however the hosts are in super form and could just shade it.

One has to say our cricketers are in far better form than our footballers after they could only draw with Scotland last Saturday. The two free kicks that the Tartan Army scored were superb but overall England had the bulk of possession and really should have put the game to bed in the first half.

On the bright side it was great to see our young guns win the under 20s World Cup final against Venezuela in South Korea. It just goes to show that many of our top sides need to stop bringing in foreign players and give these lads the chance to play at a high level and develop.

Now I know many punters think that there is no such thing as a good thing losing especially when you have inside information but in reality that’s rubbish. The best example you could ever have was the election result where Teresa May was told by her advisers and the polls she was bound to win the election with a landslide. It never happened and she scraped in by a short head which goes to prove there is no such thing as a certainty. Mind you Jeremy Corbyn is walking around like he was the winner so when my next tip gets beaten in a photo perhaps I will try to claim my winnings.

Lots of interesting racing today however for Howies Hottie I’m waiting until Thursday for the 5.20 Newbury which is a 10 furlong handicap for amateur riders. The tip is Best Example from the Julia Fielden yard and will be ridden by her son Richard. The gelding is an ex Godolphin horse who has won off higher ratings in the past and was going well last time until running out of petrol over a longer trip.

Back at his optimum distance he can go well in a race that Julia has won on previous occasions especially as the word from the yard is that they really fancy him.

EYE-CATCHERS

FLAT

Hernandoshideaway trainer M.Dodds - Ran well over a distance short of his best and is well handicapped.

Mrs Teasdale trainer A.Watson - Finished strongly after a slow start and will improve.

King Kevin trainer E.Dunlop - Led until inside the furlong marker at Brighton then faded and needs a shorter trip.

First Drive trainer M.Bell - Led most of the way at Yarmouth until collared close home. This filly owned by the Queen will improve for the run.

Eirene trainer D.Ivory - Ran in the same juvenile race as the above finishing strongly.

Back next Wednesday be lucky.
