The North is blessed with two fantastic big race cards this Saturday but after still being mentally scarred from my last trip to the knavesmire (you try sharing an apartment with Andy Bell) I’m off to Haydock for one of their biggest days of the year.

The north West track will be rammed today and the card is of an extremely high standard with top handicaps and group races. This is a very tight turning track many comment when they get here how small the place is so we want horses that can be handy and hold a position.

The 2.55 is an intriguing race the Amex silver bowl a 3 year old handicap over a mile which brings together a host of unexposed types from top yards.

The Queens horse Maths Prize who got well and truly put in her place by Shutter Speed at Newbury leads the betting but I’m not convinced this trip is right so lets look elsewhere. Fire Brigade would be interesting if the forecast storms arrived early but that race at Newmarket he won lacked any real depth so I won’t be ringing 999 to back him.

The horse we need to get on is a horse I have been praying Mr Misery Mark Johnston would step up to a mile and at last he has, Rusumaat is the horse in question and last time out he was second to the highly progressive Winning Ways at Ascot. That looks solid form to me and with likely improvement in the tank he looks a very solid each way bet. Plus Johnston has booked Richard Kingscote who is the top jock round here so we are in good hands.

Back Rusumaat each way at 10/1 with paddy power and watch as the Trainer doesn’t smile during the presentation but he will be happy inside.

I go into June with a good solid season of profit behind me on the Racing Club but with all the major Flat Festivals still to come things are about to hot up. We start at Epsom next weekend and then before you know it we are into Royal Ascot. Join me for the mid season swing, I have some huge plans, I already believe I run the most complete tipping service out there and I intend to make it even bigger and better. I’m hoping you can be part of those plans.

Have a great weekend and if you’re at Haydock come and say hi preferably followed by is that Stella?

Lastly Yorkshires finest Kell Brook fights tonight in his home city at his beloved Bramall Lane, there’s no way he is going to lose there let me tell you 13/8 against King Kong would be value!

Back next Saturday for a Derby Day preview.
