Hi ,

Well what did you think of the new I.T.V. racing coverage on New Years day?

Personally I thought it was a vast improvement on Channel 4 and most certainly far more entertaining. Ed Chamberlin was an excellent anchor while A.P. and Luke Harvey worked well as a team even if they did get a right soaking.

Matt Chapman brings a lot more humour to the program and he can also create some controversy and talking points sometimes not even about racing. In the flat season Francesca Cumani will co host the show and she has plenty of experience having worked down under in Australia on television racing.

What I would love to see is the bosses at I.T.V. sign up Jason Weaver as he works so well with Luke Harvey on Attheraces plus invite Keiron Fallon to participate during the big meetings as there is nobody better at finding winners or a better judge of a horse than Fallon.

The only thing I’m not sure about is why do they need Victoria Pendletons input? Mind you I wouldn’t mind the Weather Girls job of looking up at the sky to tell us if it looks like rain or shine. Overall it’s a big thumbs up to the show for the way they are trying to encourage new people to take a regular interest in horse racing.

There is some good all-weather action on offer today and Howies Hottie goes in the 5.45 Wolverhampton a one mile seller. The big priced tip is Pool House who was once rated stones higher than his current mark.

Last time out he led into the straight over 10 furlongs before fading out of contention so the shorter trip should suit him. I don’t know if you check out the runners on the Attheraces website but Timeform put stars on what they consider each horses chance and Pool House is bottom rated with one star. Top rated is With Pleasure with 5 stars who must have a chance as he has been one of my eye-catchers however one horse is a massive price and the other is the jolly. Of course they could provide a cracking little forecast.

HOT HANDICAPPERS

ARTIFICIAL SURFACES

Roys Legacy trainer S.Harris - Front runner who was collared close home at Lingfield and has dropped to a winnable mark.

Temple Road trainer M.Bradley - The gelding won the race Roys Legacy was placed in and is still on a very attractive rating.

JUMPS

Doctor Harper trainer D.Pipe - Ran a cracker at Cheltenham where he was placed but we know he can perform to a higher level when he gets drier ground.

Back next Wednesday be lucky.
