Goodwood has flown by and has anybody else noticed the Channel 4 team are starting to get a little bit on the bitter side about their impending doom.

Big Mac referred to them as Dead Team Talking and with the exception of the peerless Nick Luck the cracks are beginning to show.

Ricci Persaud was heard to say he might ask someone for job advice and Graham Cunningham seems like a Kid on the last day of school. I must say he has improved as a pundit since they announced they were all getting the old BetDaq which is a bit sad and pointless at the same time.

There is no doubt whoever is doing the coverage that the Course itself at Goodwood will always be the star. Watching in ultra HD on our giant screen at BetFan Towers the course looked majestic, there is no more stunning sporting venue in the World never mind racing venue (and I include Oakwell).

As predicted the star Jockeys have come to the fore with Dettori and Ryan Moore in tip top form. But for me the star rider has been Aussie James McDonald who looks effortless in the saddle and though lacking experience round here is an incredible judge of pace and always seems to be in the right place. In Australia for one so young he is already at legend status with one Aussie journalist saying he is the greatest of all time.

That might be a little premature but as we sadly wave bye bye to him as he flies home tomorrow we should enjoy today as he is a rare talent. I wonder how much of Godolphins cash would tempt him over here full time!!

Which brings us neatly to the final days big betting race the 3.45 Quatar Stewards Cup where The Boys in Blue run top weight Baccarat available at a eye popping 40/1 with our friends at Betway. Godolphin can be deadly when running in these big handicaps and if we look closely through Baccarat’s form then we see flashes of real quality form. It’s true he disappointed at Windsor last time but that was a strange race and he was slowly away and got caught wide so I’m prepared to forgive him that. Before that he was a good second to Don’t Touch in a strong conditions race. If he brings his A game then 40/1 is very very tempting given the form of the Boys in Blue he may well do!
