WE WIN FIRST THE 2 WEEKS: BREAK EVEN THE THIRD WEEK

We started this Season’s campaign on Thursday 21st January 2016 and won on the first 2 weeks but could only break even last week. It was a case of what could go wrong did but a sweet little 20/1 each way double redressed the balance by close of play Wednesday.

On the Thursday Eljadaaff must go down as one of the unluckiest losers of the year so far when getting mullahed and no run at all. On the Saturday Cool As Ice got a dreadful ride at Lingfield. A Champion Filly in South Africa over sprint trips, jockey Joe Fanning squandered a fine draw position and she failed to follow the leaders through. Bearing in mind she made all the running the time before she was quickly a dozen lengths down and then had to come around the whole field to finish like a train. I was further vexed as I should have put the winner Rivellino in as a saver. I will come back to the issue of backing more than one horse in a race another time.

On Wednesday we had a nice 20/1 each way double. The first leg Greyfriarschorista remains in great heart and it is to the credit of his trainer Giles Bravery and his team that he is able to show his ability and tenacity at the age of 9. We sorted the second leg with Princess Cookie. An easy winner on her previous start at Chelmsford the form of that race was franked by Phantom Flipper and Santiburi Girl. The only reason why she was allowed to go off at such a big price was due to her dropping back in trip and being drawn widest of all in trap 9. I reckoned that she would fall in behind off the pace and come late and wide to win. In the event she managed to show a lot of speed and be in contention turning in. I reckon with more favourable conditions she will improve on this and win again. One to follow.

I was surprised to note that 21 people had signed up to my service only to cancel their subscriptions soon after. It is not a lot of fun signing up if you miss the latest winners only to catch the next few losers but there are 52 weeks in a year and Rome wasn’t built in day. I advise all Clients to consider a Bank of 200 Point to cover losing runs and contingencies. Everyone in Racing and I mean every Last Soul will sooner or later encounter the dreaded Losing Run. When it does happen you had better be ready. I have lasted in the Game because I was always aware of the possibility. I do not and never have told people how to bet. Everyone approaches the game from a different angle whether you take great pains to make the game pay or are more than happy to have a couple of fun bets on a Saturday and maybe at the big meetings. But the two things I would beg any punter to bear in mind are this. First Start Small. If you have a method that pays then you should be able to play up your winnings and go bigger when you feel ready. Secondly if you are on a Long Losing Sequence then you should reduce your Stakes Pro Rata. If you have done say 10% of your Tank then reduce your Stake by 10%. Same for 20% and so on. If you bet say 2% of your Tank then instead of being wiped out after 50 Losers you will still have 36% left to get out of jail. The same applies if you operate 3% or 4% etc. On a reducing balance you always retain 36%. And if you think that Losing Sequences of more than are unusual go ask Tipsters Tom Segal and Hugh Taylor who have both had losing runs of over 60 in recent years.

Exactly the same applies when subscribing to a Tipster. Start small and play up the Winnings when the situation arises. When losing reduce Stakes and start upping them when you resume winning. There is no point jumping ship after a loss of say 20 Points only to see that your advisor has given a 20/1 Winner soon after. It’s a long haul so if you have Faith in your Advisor KEEP THE FAITH and Stake accordingly.

Over the years I have seen too many Good Punters and I mean Good Punters go out of the game because they lacked money management skills. Punters who were great judges of form trainers and jockeys; who had great contacts and who were fine punters in their own right. The one failing they had was that they went in too big. Maybe they liked the thrill of having a big bet on a really fancied runner for which they had top info. Maybe it was a macho thing where they liked to impress by betting in the big league. Anyway they went skint, many of whom were never sighted on the racecourse again. I remember one evening at Windsor in the Summer. Legendary punter Johnny Lights was talking to one of the boys and asked if he was going to back the hot favourite in the last race on the card. The punter turned round and told him that he had no money left having done his dough on a couple of good things earlier in the evening that had got beat. The poor guy had blown out in just one evening!

I was asked one time what Punters should look for when following Racing Tipsters and Advisors. Basically it comes down to what you want from the game. Some Punters want a lot of action, maybe a Yankee every day whereas others would much prefer a single Nap Bet. Followers of Betfan are extremely lucky in that they have a whole host of Great Tipsters to choose from and even luckier in that by providing details of proofed bets punters can see for themselves what their records are. Punters in the past weren’t nearly so lucky. One point I would add is that I would be very wary of following Services that do not put their name to a service. Secondly follow a service that has justified itself over at least a year. But there is only one way and that is to GET INVOLVED. You won’t get anywhere standing on the Sidelines. START SMALL AND STAKE SENSIBLY.

After all there is only Mantra when it comes to Betting and one I have advocated my whole life – THE NAME OF THE GAME IS TO STAY IN THE GAME!!!!
