The Irish Derby at the Curragh on Saturday brings together the horses that finished first and third in the English version at the start of June. Cracksman can reverse the form with Wings Of Eagles and prevent Adian O'Brien from winning the biggest Flat race in Ireland for twelfth the time. Cliffs Of Moher was second at Epsom but that horse misses the race but is prominent in the betting for the St Leger at Doncaster in September.
The Derabai na Eireann, the rough translation in Gaelic, is like its English counterpart run over one mile and four furlongs and open to three year old colts and fillies. It is the most prestigious Flat race in Ireland and often features the winner of the English Derby. Eighteen horses have won both races and the most recent horse to achieve the double was Harzand last year.
