A Good Draw Needed On The Flat At Certain Courses... 

Sometimes the best horse in a Turf Flat Race cannot win because they have a bad draw and unfortunately this is the case for certain course throughout the UK.

What I intend to do is give you the run down on some of the most severe Draw Bias in the UK so that you can keep a note. Obviously on occasions, but rarely, some horses overcome the worst possible draw but this is few and far between. Races where the draw is vital are 5 and 6 furlong sprints but other distances do need a good draw too. Today I am giving you course where good sprint draws are essential.

Chester doesn't have 6 furlong races but it's 5 furlong course needs a low draw and needs a horse that gets away well from the stalls....fluff the break and it's unlikely you get back into the race.

Ripon has a terrific bias towards the sprint races where high drawn horses have a significant advantage however when the ground is soft the advantage seems to negate.

At Thirsk unless you are drawn high then forgot it as the draw here is vital to have a winning chance. However the advantage seems to disappear when the ground is soft.

Lingfield turf course has a terrific draw bias towards high drawn horses in sprints whatever the going....rarely do we see low drawn sprinters winning here whatever the turf going. The very highest drawn horse at Lingfield in sprints has won almost half of the races run...wow.

On the stats Bath sprinters need a high draw. You would think looking at a plan of the track and a left hand dogleg turn that low numbers would be favoured but nothing is further from the truth. High numbers here for sprinters....however on odd races the stats are turned upside down.

Beverley probably has the most significant 5 furlong bias where low drawn runners have a massive advantage. There are no 6 furlong races at Beverley.

Nottingham has been shown to know that high draws in sprints is necessary to allow the best drawn horses to 'bag' the stand rail on the run for home.

I have given you here a list of some of the most influential draw bias in the UK for sprinters. Keep a note of these courses and try to put the odds in your favour by having a good draw every time you back.
