Sunday's FREE Tip Is Ready...

1st November 2015

Hi ,

One of The Don’s favourite series of films is The Matrix and the final one contains the line “Everything that has a beginning has an end!”

Well after three years of columns, tips, views, moans, reviews of racecourses, Friendly (ish) abuse of Holden and Bell today I sign off and leave it for somebody new to take you through Sunday Mornings.

I want to stress the Don’s Private service is going nowhere (sorry Bookies) so join me for the Jumps and maybe a Cheltenham decider against Bell.

You will get all the bets I do, its made over 1,200 points profit in three years so I must be doing something right! I'm also looking to develop something where I can get my track/paddock info out as a service but you will hear about that in good time.

I want to thank Simon the editor at BetFan for three years of spelling corrections, all the people who have taken time to email in or contact me on FB and say they enjoy it and when they’ve had a big win on the free bets, we have had winners at up to 20/1 in this column. Andy Bell for providing so much good copy for me, Simon Holden for the fashion tips, Penny for putting up with me and editing out stuff (largely you can’t say that about him they will never print it) usually about a jockey with an Italian sounding name. All the people at Betfan Towers who keep the whole operation on the go while some of us get to go racing!

And lastly to the members of the Dons private service many of whom have been with me since day 1 or left and come back because if you weren’t there I'm sure they wouldn’t have wanted a column off me for the last three years !

Racing is the greatest sport to watch, to bet on and to talk about and write about and it's been a privilege to share my thoughts with you on this great sport. I can tell you I have always written it as I've seen it and not chased the popular opinion. Racing very often shoots itself in the foot and bugbears like poor Sunday Racing and giving dodgy going reports have been revisited many times, if we don’t moan they won’t change things and we the punters will get short changed.

It's going to be a fantastic Jumps Season all building to that week in March and you can be assured I will be leaving nothing to chance in my search for winners.

I'm off to Huntingdon today and it would be nice to leave you with a winner so lets got to the 2.20 and get on the Fave Lord Lir. Tim Vaughan’s charge failed in his bid for a three timer last time but he was unlucky as another horse smashed him up on the turn and he never recovered. Tim will have schooled him well since then and if we go on his earlier runs he has too much pace for this lot. 6/4 looks value to me and I can see him starting shorter. Lets hope he can see us off with a winner.

Be lucky, always bet with your head and never in over it and as a very wise man told me many years ago, there is no winning run there is no losing run there is only the next bet, make yours a winning one!
