Thursday's FREE Tip Is Ready...

1st October 2015

Hi ,

Two good max bets landed on Sunday at Musselburgh with Laughton (7/4) and (Grey Morning (4/6) winning with a bit up their sleeve and on Tuesday the well supported San Quentin (7/4) won well for us and should remain competitive. Big John Gosden's Golden Horn with has returned to the top of the Cartier Horse Of The Year table with (184 points) and looks hard to pass.

The 25th annual Cartier Racing Awards will be presented at a glittering ceremony before an invited audience of 300 at the Dorchester Hotel, London, England, on the evening of Tuesday, November 10.

The Cartier Racing Awards were established in 1991 to reward excellence in horse racing. In addition to the eight equine awards, the Cartier/Daily Telegraph Award of Merit goes to the person or persons who, in the opinion of the special 17-strong Cartier Jury, has/have done the most for European racing and/or breeding either over their lifetime or within the past 12 months.

European horse racing's top awards are delivered through a tried and tested combination of points earned by horses in Pattern races throughout 2015 (30%), combined at the end of season with the opinions of a panel of racing journalists (35%) and votes from readers of Racing Post and The Daily Telegraph plus Channel 4 Racing viewers (35%).

Investec Derby victor Golden Horn annexed a third Group One of 2015 with victory in the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes, highlight of Longines Irish Champions Weekend, at Leopardstown on September 12 but the John Gosden-trained colt had to survive a stewards' inquiry after veering right and impeding the third home Free Eagle inside the final furlong.

Anthony Oppenheimer's homebred also holds a commanding advantage over Gleneagles (128), who missed the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes due to unsuitable ground, in the Cartier Three-Year-Old Colt category and looks set to make his final racecourse appearance in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on October 4.

Legatissimo (152) also gained a third Group One success on the same Leopardstown card with an authoritative display in the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes. The daughter of Danehill Dancer, who is owned by Coolmore and trained by David Wachman in Ireland, leads the standings for the Cartier Three-Year-Old Filly Award and is now joint-second with Solow (152) in the Cartier Horse Of Year category.

Her closest rival for Cartier Three-Year-Old Filly Award is the Aga Khan's Ervedya (120), who gained a comfortable victory for trainer Jean-Claude Rouget in the Group Qatar Prix du Moulin de Longchamp on September 13. A hugely informative afternoon at Longchamp also saw another dazzling display from 2013 Cartier Horse Of The Year Treve (80), who is owned by Al Shaqab Racing and trained by Criquette Head-Maarek.

The dual Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine warmed up for an unprecedented hat-trick in Europe's premier middle-distance contest with a scintillating victory in the Group One Qatar Prix Vermeille. A third Arc victory would surely sway readers of The Daily Telegraph and Racing Post, plus viewers of Channel 4 Racing, and Cartier's panel of journalists into voting for Treve as the 2015 Cartier Horse Of The Year.

Treve is also battling for Cartier Older Horse glory, with that category headed by Solow, trained by Freddy Head, brother of Criquette Head-Maarek.

Leading three-year-old colt New Bay (80) and Postponed (80), who has developed into one of Europe's leading older middle-distance performers, also advertised their Arc claims with Group Two wins in the Qatar Prix Niel and Qatar Prix Foy respectively on the same afternoon at Longchamp.

Gold Cup victor Trip To Paris (56) still leads the standings for Cartier Stayer Award. However, he has a strong rival in Order Of St George (44), who stormed to an 11-length success for Ireland's champion trainer Aidan O'Brien in the Group One Palmerstown House Estate Irish St Leger on day two of Longines Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh on September 13.

O'Brien is also responsible for fellow three-year-old stayer Bondi Beach (40), who was awarded the Group One Ladbrokes St Leger in the stewards' room after going down by a head to Simple Verse in a controversial renewal of the world's oldest Classic at Doncaster on September 12.

A superb weekend for O'Brien and Coolmore saw them capture both of the juvenile Group One contests at the Curragh on September 13. Air Force Blue (72) now heads the Cartier Two-Year-Old Colt category following an impressive win in the Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes, while Minding's (40) victory in the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes has catapulted her to the top of the Cartier Two-Year-Old Filly Award on Pattern race points.

Muhaarar (96) continues to dominate the Cartier Sprinter category, but the 2014 award winnerSole Power (40) could yet lay down a strong challenge. The eight-year-old gained a first turf win in Ireland on September 13 when flashing home to take the Group Two Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh.

Harry Herbert, Cartier's racing consultant, commented: "We continue to enjoy captivating racing and few sports could match the sheer drama and excitement on display in Ireland, France and the UK over the weekend.”

"With attention turning to the major end of season finales in Europe and further afield, we look set for more mouth-watering clashes between now and early November.”

At Newmarket on Saturday Esoterique will be hard to beat in the Sun Chariot Stakes and in Paris on Sunday Treve will make history winning her third Arc.

Yours in sport.

Back Next Thursday.
