Its a fascinating week for the Irish Open at an amazing new venue Portstewart Links in Northern Ireland.

This event is hosted by the Rory Mcilroy Foundation and the man himself is the reigning Champion and 7/1 favourite. His victory though came at the K Club which is a course that suits his game more than this classic Links lay out will. Rory was as he put it bloody awful in the US Open and his driving was the worst I've ever seen in his career.

Lets be clear if he drives like that this week then he cannot win as this rough is thick and he will be struggling to par. His career looks at a crossroads and he needs to refocus his attention back to golf full time if he wants the number 1 slot back.

A great field has turned out for what should be a brilliant Tournament and fair play to Rory for putting his money where his mouth is but because of the big names we can get a big price on a player I feel has a big chance of landing this.

Paul Dunne is not exactly a house hold name but this young Irishman is starting to build a big name for himself and also loves links golf.He hits the ball low and can manoeuvre it both ways so if it gets windy Dunne will not be as affected as many of the bigger names.
