2nd June 2015

Hi %%First Name%%,

Really looking forward to Saturday’s Derby and I’ve not given up hope on our 50/1 ante post bet Jack Hobbs, I hear he worked brilliantly last week and has improved since York. The ground is currently good to soft which would be ideal although hotter drier weather is forecast later in week. The favourite Golden Horn owner Mr Oppenheiimer is one of the most knowledgeable breeders in the world and doesn’t think he’ll stay. I don’t really fancy anything else in the race so hopeful of landing a monster coup!

The best betting opportunity of the week is in America and the Belmont Stakes. American Pharoah bids for the Triple Crown, no horse has done it for four decades and no wonder 3 Classic’s in 5 weeks! He’s certainly a very good horse and is an even money chance but as you know I’m happy to stick with my spoiling ante post bet Frosted, currently 5/1.

In the Kentucky Derby he raced too far back and wide, finishing strongly in fourth.

Disappointed trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, said. "We ran our race, but we didn't win. We were second best but we finished fourth. We ran a huge race on all figures. We ran farther than anyone except the winner."

Horses who missed the Preakness have won the past nine Belmonts, starting in 2006 with Jazil, trained by McLaughlin.

Different tactics will be employed on Saturday "I think we'll be a lot closer (to the pace} than in the Derby," McLaughlin said. "And hopefully not so wide, and we work out a better trip."

Frosted by top sire Tapit out of a mare by Deputy Minister, whose son Awesome Again won a Breeders' Cup Classic has a better chance than most of staying the trip. He’s also been training well. Daily Racing Form clocker Mike Welsch called Friday's 5-furlong breeze in 1:00.25 "the best I've seen of Frosted either prior to or since the Derby."

Get on!

Added a few to the hotlist last week but all for Royal Ascot and keeping them to myself!
