Lets start by saying I hope everyone got stuck into Capri who really went through the gears (come on I’m allowed one) to win the St Leger in style to land the final classic of the year the St Leger given confidently at 7/2.

I was then convinced the well bred Wafy was much better than he had shown on debut. My info was that the Trainer still felt he could be very good and that the debut had just spooked him. I advised a 5 point max win @16/1. The horse was pummelled in the betting scooting in at 6/1 sp.
The advantage of early value playing was never more starkly proved.
We then backed Khafoo Shememi in the big handicap and the horse duly obliged at a whopping 14/1 flying us over the 100 points on the day up to a closing 120.

Now for the hugely frustrating news that Ayr where I had a massive gamble lined up is off. The words heavy drinking session in a brewery spring to mind. I worry about the state of Scottish Racing I really do when I see the problems at courses and even more worrying after seeing The Shrewd Tipster Jimmy Welsh’s ghastly Spray tan I worry equally about the state of Scottish Tipsters.
We still have a very good card at Newbury to get stuck into though so all is not lost and our bet goes in the 3.25 Dubai Duty Free Handicap over one mile 2 furlongs. It’s a hugely competitive big field handicap but there is a fascinating contender in the shape of the Godolphin runner Leshlaa who I’m convinced has a big field handicap in him before the season is out. He has to carry a 5 pound penalty for winning a group race abroad last time but that could have been a soft touch. I’m more interested in his win at Newmarket and his fifth in the Brittania when De Sousa gave him a lot to do. That’s top class handicap form and I also think he is one of the few in the race who is improving. Jimmy Quinn takes the ride and he will be keen to impress on this rare opportunity. Back the horse each way @16/1 with Betvictor that’s too big a price.
