Ascot stages its first serious fixture of the season and it’s a cracker of a card. Sandwiched neatly between Chester and York it really feels like we are really up and running now.

Chester was a great week but an agonising one for the Simon Holden Racing Club. We bagged the first two winners of the meeting at 11//2 and 4/1 and then in the Chester cup we had a max each way on Yorkkidding @16/1 for a real mega payout.

The horse looked like winning till caught in the last strides, it was still a 50 point haul on the day but it was oh so close.

It was proof of the damage I can do to the old enemy at these events and we go to the Knavesmire for the Dante Festival next week full of confidence.

It’s a fantastic meeting and I will be having at least four Major wagers each day from Wednesday to Friday next week so follow the link below and join me.

Start backing the winners not just reading about them.

Today at Ascot we have some big field handicaps over the straight course. It’s a law unto itself this place and the form very rarely translates anywhere else. One horse who loves it here is Squats trained by William Haggas who loves nothing more than a winner here.

Squats runs in the 4pm heritage handicap today and seems to have been overlooked by the evil ones.

Betvictor go 20/1 and 5 places which looks very juicy. Haggas has the favourite as well in Fastnet Tempest but he is a head case all be it a talented one so lets stick with the track lover Squats.

Have a great day, join me for what will be a sensational week at York.

Back next week unless Dick Turpin grabs my wallet with some big announcements.

Back next Saturday.
