Declans Eyecatchers - Irish Horses To Follow...

ACTRESS (Aidan O'Brien) The Master of Ballydoyle sends his fillies to nearly every dance and sometimes that policy pays off in spades, as when this lady put the colts in their place in the Anglesley Stakes. If the ground came up fast she could make them all hop in the Cheveley Park.

DAWN RAIDER (Pat Kelly) It's taken a while, but this horse finally got off the mark by scoring with some authority over two miles and six at Killarney. The handicapper will no doubt respond, but this Galway horse will be of particular interest in the three miles handicap hurdle at his local track the week after next.

GOLDEN SPELL (Johnny Murtagh) Came from last to first at The Curragh to land the first nursery of the season. She has lovely acceleration and seven furlongs could prove her best trip this year.

I AM POWER (Michael O'Callaghan) Comfortably gave weight away in one of those two year old Auction Maidens at Navan. Entries for the Phoenix and the Gimcrack look a bit ambitious, but he will certainly be a contender in Stakes races and could progress further from there.

KATIE CONNELL (Willie Mullins) Looked a decent sort when winning on her debut in a Cork bumper. Worth following in either a winners bumper or a mares maiden hurdle next time.

MAGICAL (Aidan O'Brien) Classically bred sister to Rhododendron, gave a cracking debut effort when second to the very smart Dawn Delivers. It will take something very special indeed to beat her in a fillies maiden next time.

MUR HIBA (Michael O'Callaghan) In her first race in almost a year, she was unlucky to come up against the seasoned and battle hardened Red Sabor at Navan. She actually headed him late on before being pipped.Presuming no "bounce factor" kicks in, quick compensation awaits.

RASHAAN (Colin Kidd) Top hurdler, needs two and a half miles, a right handed track and good or better ground. Has smart flat form - 50% strike rate - and goes for the big Qualified Riders race in Galway on the opening evening. Decent chance there though he didn't run particularly well on his only previous visit to Ballybrit, admittedly in the Galway Hurdle.

THE PENTAGON (Aidan O'Brien) Like many of the stables runners he showed big improvement on his second outing to trounce a talented field in a Curragh maiden. He loved the faster ground and could be on the plane for Glorious Goodwood.

* Our Irish Oaks Weekend Special proved another great money spinner, hot on the heels of our Irish Derby Weekend bonanza. That's ten winning festivals out of eleven, and don't dare miss the Galway Festival where we really struck gold last year. It kicks off on Monday week and you can find out more by clicking here.
