Hi %%First Name%%,

I bet it's great to be a Bournemouth fan at the moment with the club winning promotion to the Premiership. Well that is unless Middlesborough score over 20 in their next game.

This has to be in my opinion one of the greatest achievements ever by a football manager and Eddie Howe can count himself up there with Mourinho, Wenger, Guardiola etc, etc. When you consider the team was heading out of league football just a few short seasons ago.

The club have a new Russian owner in Maxim Demin but he has invested less than 10 million which wouldn't buy one decent player these days.

Eddie Howe has found quality players from the lower leagues and moulded them into star material and I'm sure we all wish that they go on to have a cracking year next season in the top flight.

Saturday sees the first Classic with the 2000gns and I'm just hoping this weeks forecast rain misses the Newmarket area so that my tip Celestial Path can show his quality.

Mind you today's racing is exciting with lots of excellent flat racing in particular at Ascot but for me the top days jump racing is over in Ireland where they stage day two of the Punchestown Festival.

So that is where I'm heading for Howies Hottie in the 5.30 which is the Punchestown Gold Cup. The selection is Don Cossack who was a good winner at Aintree with A.P. in the saddle and could have more to offer over this longer trip.

Usual jockey Bryan Cooper plumps for Road To Riches who was 2nd in the Cheltenham version but how many times have we seen jockeys pick the wrong one. Anyway we have Paul Carberry doing the steering and he is as good as anyone apart from A.P. or Ruby.

EYECATCHER

FLAT

Collabaration trainer A.Balding - He has won his last two with ease and is worth following for the hattrick.

Birdman trainer D.O'Meara - Well documented in this column he won for us again last week and can continue to chalk up a sequence.

Almost Guilty trainer B.Meehan - This expensive filly made her debut last week and was noted running well. She will improve for the race and must be followed.

Shifting Power trainer R.Hannon - The colt has grown over the Winter and looked in need of the race last week. He will strip fitter and ready for a battle next time.

Hawkeyethenoo trainer J.Goldie - This old boy has started to slip down the weights and didn't run badly from a bad draw at Haydock. He is well up to taking a nice prize before long.

Evergreen Forest trainer J.Best - He had his first run for this trainer yesterday at Brighton and needed it badly. This gelding will come on bundles for the run and is very well handicapped at the moment.

Back next Wednesday have a good week and be lucky.

Howard Davis-Shaw.
