Its been a great month for the Racing Club but as we draw to the end of the Flat Season my eyes are already looking ahead to the jumps and I have signed up two big new informants to add to the network at considerable cost but they will be worth it!
It all adds up to what should be a massive jumps season for us as we have one aim in mind as usual to build profits. I’ve made nearly a thousand points since this Racing Club started and I will not rest till that is doubled. Now down to business and we have two fabulous cards today in England not to mention the two day Arc meeting in Chantilly. Lets hope Enable proves how good she is and stuffs them in the big one tomorrow. Is an odds on shot ever a good bet in an Arc probably not on balance but if she is in the form she was at Ascot in the King George I struggle to make a case for the others. What is shocking is the lack of French challengers this year. Don’t they have racehorses there now? Something to do with Brexit maybe?
So Haydock and Newmarket are the two meetings to concentrate on today. I say concentrate because I am in a highly agitated state similar to the state The Tartan Tipster (he of the ghastly spray tan) gets in when he hears the phrase “No thinking about it, it is your round.” My reason is I’ve signed up to Sober October in aid of Macmillan so the fun stops today. The clock is ticking at an alarmingly fast rate and around BetFan Towers Off Licence staff are being laid off for what will be a long cruel month. But hey it’s a good cause I suppose.
So best enjoy today then and what better way than by landing the Cambridgeshire with a 100/1 shot yes that’s right, today is the biggest price Racing bet I’ve given in 7 years of writing this column (and you thought seven was a lucky number).
The Cambridgeshire 3.35 Newmarket is one of the great Handicaps and I’m taking a position that you want to be drawn high. If I’m right we can chuck out a lot of the field. So lets look for a very high draw with a horse who has won over further. Lets look for a Trainer who the wider public have not really heard of yet but who is very, very good. Then if I’m right and there is a real chance with so many front runners there is a strong possibility that they will go too fast and leave it for a closer. Ok a few things have to go our way but at a 100/1 with Stanjames Roger Fells lightly weighted Mulligatawny is no 100/1 shot and is well worth a small sporting wager.
Now that will be a good way to end September!
