Chester is one of the great quirky British tracks and one that any racing fan should visit.

A very tight track where everyone has a great view it’s a real social occasion with vast crowds every time a meeting is staged.

These late season flat meetings are a little less frenetic but the quality of racing is still very high. Chester had a real problem with non runners a few years ago when owners saw they had a high draw and told their Trainers to mysteriously ring the vet. Chester very cleverly combatted this by paying appearance money and giving owners hospitality so even if you have a high draw and no chance you get a great day out!

Today is a fabulous late season card and the 2.45 is a class 2 mile handicap. The fave here and it’s a worthy one is Breakable for that man Easterby who is having a great season. He got beat by the classy Lincoln Rocks last time and that is strong form. The handicapper may have just nabbed him though and at 4/1 we can look elsewhere.

The horse who I’m backing here though is nearly twice the price and is Sharp Defence who has won twice this season. He was very unlucky here last time when he got stopped on the rail but travelled really well that day. He looked really impressive at Salisbury and has also run well at Hamilton. He can win this off this mark and can be backed to win @ 7/1 with BetBright.

We are entering a fascinating stage of the season with the Leger meeting coming soon at Doncaster and all the other late season fixtures of note. The Simon Holden Racing Club will be covering all these meetings extensively with one aim to win big, join me and be part of it.
