Whilst some of us might just like a flutter, others will be looking to make money from the beloved game. We’re here to help with offers galore from various bookies. Pick the ones you like and make your money go further this season…

We stand here on the cusp of the most exciting weeks racing of the flat season. I speak of course of the Ebor Festival at York which begins next Wednesday and runs through till Saturday on which the Ebor itself is run, Europe's richest and most prestigious handicap.

There really is nothing like the Ebor Festival, it has top class racing without the stuffiness and snobbery of Ascot. It’s raced on a track that’s fair unlike Goodwood and there is something for everyone.

I will be going there to land big gambles and I would like you to join me there as a member of the Simon Holden Racing Club as we go for Gold. I will be having a minimum of four bets each day with one aim to relieve the Bookmakers of their cash with the same disdain as Dick Turpin used to take from his “customers’ all those years ago.

Sadly or gladly if he stole your pocket watch Dick Turpin met his own sticky end when hung on the Knavesmire (it wasn’t during a race meeting, the parking would have been horrendous) and Bookmakers will be looking to hang punters out to dry across the open lands of the Knavesmire next week.

WE MUST NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN!!!

So get with me and we will make sure it doesn’t.

Before York takes our full attention we have the little matter of Newbury today and a superb card for us to get stuck into. The 1.50 took my eye a Listed race over 7 furlongs for 2 year olds. On this soft ground you will need stamina to win this and one horse I have been dying to see again is Red Mist trained by Simon Crisford. He won on debut at Sandown when there was plenty of cut in the ground and though green he really relished the hill.

My info is that he has thrived since and this son of Frankel can progress and take this on his second start before going on to group races. He is by Frankel whose progeny seem to relish soft ground. At 4/1 he rates a good bet.

I will be back next Saturday with a preview of the Ebor by then we will have already seen some great racing.
