8th March 2017

Hi ,

It’s amazing to see that BT Sport have paid £1.2 billion for the rights to Champions League football which means they have agreed to pay an extra £400 million to screen Europes elite club competition. This will mean more money in the wallets of greedy players and their agents and probably a hike in viewers subscriptions. Lets just hope who ever finishes in the top four of our Premier League at least can lower their ticket prices to give something back to the fans.

I see Celtic have run away with the Premier title in Scotland and are looking to go through the season unbeaten. Brendan Rogers is crowing from the roof tops but lets face it football North of the border is in a sorry state with the majority of teams up their not even up to the standard of a division one two side in the English leagues. To me this is a crying shame and this needs to be rectified so that Scotland can find a new crop of players such as Dennis Law, Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness, Billy Bremmner, Jim Baxter, etc, etc.

A few weeks ago I told you what a good Jockey Josephine Gordon was and she didn’t disappoint last week when she gave Pearl Spectre a superb front running ride and in the process giving my Fold4Gold clients a 22/1 winner. Two other lady jockeys to look out for are Kathy Glenister who rides a lot for David Evans and Rachel Blackmore who rides over the jumps in Ireland. In fact Kathy rode another winner for my Fold4Gold team when winning on Athassel on Monday at 10/1.

The Cheltenham Festival gets nearer and nearer and the excitement is ready to reach fever pitch even if a few of the stars will be missing through injury. The Howie Hottie for today will be going in next Tuesdays Champion Hurdle on The New One who will bring the house down if he wins.

This will be the 9 year olds 4th attempt to land the prize but in a year in which looks a sub standard renewal the old boy could surprise his younger rivals. I’m not sure which one of Twiston-Davies sons will ride either Sam or Willy but it could well be a happy family affair.

I don’t base my selection purely on sentiment as the tip was only beaten 3 lengths by Yanworth at Kempton who is one of the favourites and the New One is a value 14/1 shot.

HOT HANDICAPPERS

ARTIFICIAL SURFACES

Bring on a Spinner trainer S.Williams - Ran well over 7 furlongs but would prefer a shorter trip.

Ulysses trainer R.Beckett - Finished strongly on his debut and can only improve.

Lost in the Moon trainer M.Tompkins - Ran 2nd at Lingfield when staying on and this massive filly has more improvement in her.

Sutter County trainer M.Johnston - Just found out over 7 furlongs and a return to sprinting is the answer.

Back next Wednesday be lucky.
