Hi ,

Three-year-old King's Best colt Ennaadd is improving fast and ran away with the £40,000 Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Hyde Stakes at Kempton Park last Wednesday.

Trained by Roger Varian and owned by Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, Ennaadd was confidently ridden by Jack Mitchell in the mile Polytrack contest on his first start since April 2 following a setback.

He broke well and was settled in fifth on the inside as Havre De Paix took the seven-strong field along at a strong pace.

Ennaadd progressed to third before turning for home and cruised up to challenge in the straight, taking the lead with a furlong and a half to race and going clear before being eased in the closing stages.

The 5/2 second favourite beat 16/1 shot You're Fired (Karl Burke/Joey Haynes) by two and three quarter lengths, with another length back to the 11/10 favourite Sovereign Debt (David Nicholls/Declan McDonagh), runner-up in last season's All-Weather Mile Championships Conditions Stakes, who kept on but struggled with the hot pace.

His winning time of 1m 36.45s was below the standard time and much the fastest comparatively of the evening at Kempton Park.

Ennaadd, bred by Darley, has now won on his last four starts, which have all come over a mile on Polytrack at Lingfield Park, Chelmsford City and Kempton Park (twice).

Tonight's race was the first of four Fast-Track Qualifiers for the £150,000 Sunbets All-Weather Mile Championships Conditions Stakes at Lingfield Park on All-Weather Championships Finals Day, Good Friday, April 14 and Ennaadd has gained a free guaranteed place in the line-up.

Roger Varian commented: "Ennaadd is a nice horse and we have liked him for quite a long time.”

"A small set-back meant he missed the summer and we will make sure he is sound and healthy before deciding what to do next with him.”

"It is good that he has qualified for the All-Weather Championships Final, which is an attractive option but quite a long way off.”

"Plans can be loose for the moment and there is no rush. I think he is a miler - he has a very good turn of foot and a high cruising speed.”

"The owner has been very patient and Ennaadd should become a very nice horse next year.”

Sceau Royal is fully expected to go very close in the Fighting Fith Hurdle at Newcastle on Saturday.

Yours In Sport!
