23rd November 2016

Hi ,

Lets start by congratulating Andy Murray on becoming world number one male tennis player for 2016. The guy has worked so hard to achieve this and finally get the better of Novak Djokovic. If we add to this his Wimbledon title and the Olympic Gold its been a dream period for Andy.

One thing is for sure is that he will win B.B.C. Sports personality of the year and most bookmakers won’t even open a book on the program.

Well it looks like Gareth Southgate will be appointed England manager however he did have to be interviewed by a five man panel. I’m not quite sure of some of the names on the panel but the way the F.A. run things it woudn’t surprise me to see Simon Cowell, Len Goodman plus Ant and Dec in an advisory capacity.

Its been a cracking month for my Eye-Catcher service especially with Monday’s winner Pearl Spectre romping home at 33/1 and paying 64/1 on Betfair. Mind you there have been plenty of winners and places besides that one. We watch all races very closely and identify horses that can win in the future. The Eye-Catchers have a list of over 100 horses that should be primed to run well plus an archive list of over 60 which can also be selected when we believe they are handicapped to win.

This is a service for the connoisseur and if Carling ran a tipping line it would be Howard’s Eye-Catchers.

Amazing yesterdays card at Southwell had to be abandoned because of flooding but most people still call it all-weather racing I wonder why?

Hopefully the big jumping card at Newbury on Saturday will survive the rain with the running of the Hennessy Gold Cup taking centre stage. This race is usually won by a top class chaser or one in the making.

I’m going to have a stab at it for Howies Hottie with the Noel Meade trained Wounded Warrior. The gelding is owned by Michael Olearys Giggistown stud. Michael is also owner of Ryanair and along with President Obama and Mark Carney was predicting the end of the World if Brexit ever came to pass.

Anyway I transgress Wounded Warrior is a giant of a horse who has had niggles but it appears he is over these problems and if the trainer has him ready he could be a bit of value at around 40/1.

Another tip is that at this time of year when the mud starts flying look out for horses trained by Venetia Williams as it’s from the end of November her yard starts flying.

HOT HANDICAPPERS

ARTIFICIAL SURFACES

Steve Rogers trainer R.Varian - Ran well at Kempton and could be a force in staying races.

Volanteer Point trainer M.Channon - Hold up horse who can be dangerous when getting a clear run.

Kicking the Can trainer D.Thompson - Finally got his head in front and looks well in at the wights.

Donjuan Triumphant trainer R.Fahey - I don’t think he quite gets 7 furlongs but over 6 he is a potent force.

JUMPERS

Vaniteaux trainer N.Henderson - Ran a super race first time out and will improve for the run.

Theos Charm trainer N.Gifford - Just pipped at Haydock but looks on a winnable rating.

Back next Wednesday be lucky.

Howard Davis-Shaw.
