To quote a busy Saturday’s racing is an understatement today and that’s without even thinking about tonights Breeders’ Cup (non shall sleep).

We race at Aintree and Wincanton over the sticks but the final curtain comes down on the turf flat season up at Doncaster for the superb November handicap day. There is an excellent supporting card but the big race itself is a cracker.

Last years hero Litigant bids for a famous second victory and I think he has a massive chance of doing it, I certainly think Skybet are off their collective rockers offering 16/1 and paying 5 places.

He also won the Ebor last year so has the requisite class to carry the weight. The horse has a tremendous cruising speed and was not disgraced in group 1 company for his very shrewd yard.

After today all roads lead to Cheltenham next weekend for the open meeting. Outside of the Festival itself this is the biggest meeting of the year at the home of Jumps Racing. I’ve been in London this week recording previews with that ghastly bore the Value Rater and it’s certainly got the pulse racing (Cheltenham that is not talking to him). At the Simon Holden Racing Club I will be betting big live from Cheltenham at least four big bets on all of the three days. If you are not already a member then this is the perfect time to rectify that because it’s at the grade 1 tracks in the big races that I come into my own.

Cheltenham is the ultimate, many people feel it has become too powerful and that all roads leading to it is a bad idea. I would just say go there next week and feel an atmosphere that is unrivalled at any sporting venue.

For any Owner or Trainer the chance to be involved in a horse that even runs at Cheltenham never mind wins there is intoxicating so yes every NH Horses career begins with the question, Can we get him to the festival?

There is your answer to the question is the Festival all powerful!

Enjoy the Breeders Cup lets hope we have a European victory or two to raise a glass to and lets get ready to smash it next week, join me it’s going to be an amazing three days!
