It’s Charlie Hall Day at Wetherby the first significant race of the season so far and all eyes will be on the mighty Cue Card.

Cue Card is an absolute legend for the Tizzard’s and is the sort of horse many will turn out to see specially.

There are not that many horses in training that draw a crowd but he is definitely one.

However I am taking him on today in the 3.20 as I feel the old boy may need this and there is a young pretender in the field who will be cherry ripe today and may have too much toe for the master. The horse is Blacklion from the Twiston Davis yard and is available at 13/2 with skybet. Blacklion had some heroic performances last year finishing with a brilliant win at Cheltenham. His Trainer often talks up his horses but there is real confidence that Blacklion could turn into a genuine Gold Cup contender this year and this could be the day he lays a significant marker down.

We landed a huge touch with Fox Norton last week and the Simon Holden Racing Club is landing big winners. Do yourselves a favour and join me we are going to have a brilliant Winter. I use information combined with unique form ratings that give club members a genuine edge over the dreaded Bookmakers.!

Have a fantastic weekend and lets watch Blacklion emerge as a genuine Gold Cup contender.

Irish Cavalier Each-Way Pick in the Charlie Hall Chase - By Ian Hudson

It was a case of what might have been with Cue Card in the Cheltenham Gold Cup last season. The horse begins another campaign with the ultimate goal of winning the Blue Riband of chasing next March in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on Saturday. The horse looks short enough at odds-on and Irish Cavalier is the each-way alternative at a working man’s price but there are some wide differences of opinion with bookmakers about his chances.

Coneygree was the second favourite earlier this week but does not run. The winner of the Gold Cup in 2015 has not been on the track for almost a year and is being saved for a race on more suitable ground. Ahead of the overnight declarations there were at least eight intended runners so place terms of one fifth the odds for the first three which makes Irish Cavalier at a best price 16/1 (as short as 10/1) a good bet to make the payout places. Often there are late withdrawals so there could be just seven runners and only two places. In any case there could be money for the horse before post time, especially if there is no confidence in Cue Card at 4/6.
