The St Leger Starts Today! It’s Not Too Late - CLICK HERE!

Hi ,

Did you watch the England v Slovakia game on Sunday? I must admit I started watching but after about 30 minutes I was so bored that I turned channels and watched a remake of the classic Dustin Hoffman film of Straw Dogs. I’m sure I saw more action than anyone who stayed with the footy.

A last minute winner against a poor team down to 10 men but at least big Sam said the win was down to a lucky coin a fan gave him and not the players.

We now move into mid September which means the cricket season is all but over and one must say the national team have done reasonably well in the test series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

However the County game is not hitting the level it once did in days gone by. Dwindling gates and less excitement with teams playing for draws rather than going for the win.

It’s time cricket moved into the 21st Century and the game wasn’t run for the benefit of the M.C.C. members in their egg and bacon ties. I believe there is talk of a new T20 format next season but what I have been banging on about for years is a cup competition where all the teams plus the minor counties are drawn out of a hat in an F.A. cup style tournament.

I’m sure it would would be a great knock out with the fans and importantly put bums on seats and much needed money in county coffers.

The racing front has seen a change of fortune for my Betting Opportunity service which is now top of the table having played second fiddle to last months runaway winner Fold4Gold.

I don’t want to bore you with all the winners but check it out for yourselves by CLICKING HERE. As for Howies Hottie I’m playing on Tylery Wonder in the lucky last at Donny the 5.15. He is a recent arrival to Paul Midgley’s yard from Ireland and Adam Kirby is an eye catching jockey booking.

HOT HANDICAPPERS

FLAT

Diletta Tommasa trainer D.Lougnane - The Mare has dropped to a winnable mark both on turf or the allweather.

Sea Fox trainer D.Evans - He went down fighting behind a well regarded sort last time and perhaps a drop in trip could help.

Overlord trainer M.Rimell - Has dropped to a competitive mark and can go well in low grade handicaps.

Northern Rocked trainer D.Weld - Has been tailed off in his recent races and the veteran has been used to educate apprentice jockeys however the old boy has dropped to a very low rating and when the ground turns soft he could surprise at a massive price.

Back next Wednesday be lucky.

Howard Davis-Shaw.
