“Ripon today stage their biggest day of the year and their most valuable race the Great St Wilfred Handicap. I always think it’s a tad ungrateful that he is never there to hand out the prize but there you go. They also stage a consolation race at 3.25 for those that just miss out on the biggie. It’s this race where we go for today’s selection. Tom Dascombe is a superb trainer of sprint handicappers and he has Roudee here drawn in 20. At Ripon you need to be drawn high as there is a real bias and Roudee is drawn perfectly. The horse has real tactical speed and Richard Kingscote should get a good position from which to pounce from. Betvictor go 18/1 which looks very generous.”
