Hi ,

Well it’s just a few short days before the start of The Olympic games in Brazil however I find it difficult to get to excited as the way the games have been organised is abysmal. They are 2.5 billion over budget with broken ramps at the sailing venue and dirty drinking water a massive problem in Rio.

To be totally blunt when you consider the problems the country has with slums, poverty and the Zica virus the Brazilian government would have been wiser letting another country host the games and spend their money on more important issues. Then if you take into consideration all the doping scandals the only two things I’m looking forward to are watching Usain Bolt and then hoping Tom Daly can achieve his dream of an Olympic diving gold medal.

Amazing to see the English football season kick off again this week with some action in the Championship. It will be interesting to see how relegated Newcastle get on at Fulham on Friday night as they are very hot favourites to win the division especially with Rafa Benetiz still as their manager.

One thing that does astonish me is the amount of punters who have multiples betting on the winners of each division passing their money onto the bookies and then have to wait over six months for a return if they are successful. Mind you the days when the layers could earn interest on that money are long gone with banks now offering rates that pay next to nothing. Then of course they could invest it in gold as that is about to go sky high over the next year.

On the horse racing front there are a couple I fancy today but the British weather does always seem to throw a spanner in the works. I’m going to put up Curzon Line 4.40 Pontefract as Howies Hottie as he is so well in on old form however he would not want too much rain to hit the track before racing.

HOT HANDICAPPERS

FLAT

Nosey Barker trainer R.Hannon - Running well in low grade races and a return to a mile might suit.

Beaverbrook trainer M.Johnston - I’m not sure they know his best trip but he is handicapped to win.

Celestial Path trainer Sir M.Prescott - Forget his run at Goodwood from a bad draw as he is miles better than that.

Growl trainer R.Fahey - Ran a cracker in the Stewards Cup from a bad draw and might have won if able to race on the far side.

Back next Wednesday be lucky.

Howard Davis-Shaw.
