Thanks for all the great feedback to the First Saturday Racing Club email. I’m pleased to hear so many of you relieved those horrible bookmakers of their readies!
For those of you who missed it (shame on you but I will let it go this once) below was my preview of last Saturday’s big Group 1 race the Lockinge.
Today’s big race is the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes at 3.55 and it’s a typically competitive renewal. With recent rain there has been a huge move for the Clive Cox trained Kodi Bear who must have a massive chance. He did nothing but improve last year and will be tough to beat. I will be opposing him though with a horse who last time out received a pitiful ride from William Buick. The horse is Belardo who was set a task that Pegasus himself would have struggled with by the hapless Buick. With cut in the ground and a truer pace plus the assistance of the brilliant Andrea Atzeni I think Berardo will be adding a Group 1 to his resume.
RESULT BELARDO WINS EASILY AT 8/1!

Well the Derby picture was clouded further last weekend when the Ballydoyle conveyor belt introduced The Gurkha into the mix as he trounced the field in the French 2000 Guineas. What impressed me the most was the way he quickened clear of a good field. With the sad news my ante post fancy Mid Term misses the race (ain’t it always the way). I’m nailing my colours to the gurkhas uniform and have availed myself to the 5/1 on offer with Betway the firm who appear to sponsor anything that moves.
I’m convinced that with the Gurkha and US Army Ranger in the lineup Aiden will run Minding in the Oaks if and when that happens the price on the Gurkha will disappear mucho prompto. I would take the 5/1 now and prepare to look exceptionally smug.
