New Zealand's average winning margin in home Test matches against the British Lions was seven points before the current Tour began. That average has been maintained because the All Blacks won the first match by 15 points but lost the second by two. Momentum is with the Lions and even though winning the decider might be beyond them backing them with an eleven point start looks the best bet.

The Lions have embarked on 11 tours to New Zealand from the first trip in 1904. They only won the 1971 series but have lost the other ten. Traditionally New Zealand are the best team in the world so beating them on the road is a tough proposition. The 1971 Lions squad included some of the best players in the history of the sport and the current generation are some way behind in terms of quality.
