How many more years do you think owners and trainers can afford to put up with this to keep the show on the road? For many years British racing has been subsidised by wealthy Arabs but with the continuing fall in oil prices that could well cease before long.
In my mind the Bookmakers must pay a hell of a lot more for the product they receive to make their huge profits very much in the same way that television pays for football. If the bookmakers fail to agree I suggest we implement a Tote Monopoly as soon as possible with all net profits going back into racing and improving facilities at our tracks.

At long last we have a midweek day with some decent jump racing and for Howies Hottie I'm playing in the 12.40 Newbury. It's a near 3 mile handicap chase and the tip is quite a mouth full Blameitalonmyroots a 5 year old mare from Olly Sherwoods yard.
She won first time out and I think there is more improvement to come especially when the muds flying.
