Declan's Irish Focus - Future Winners!

Declan's eyecatchers . . .straight from Declans notebook identifying horses that are potential future winners.

Over the jumps

MONTALBANO (Willie Mullins) set a hot pace in Grade 2 Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse and sure to score over the minimum trip either back at that venue next weekend or at the Punchestown Festival.

CHAMPAGNE HARMONY (Steve Mahon) A much improved effort when scoring at Navan and could climb the ratings quickly now that the penny has dropped.

STAND UP AND FIGHT (Enda Bolger) Hadn't really built on his Punchestown maiden hurdle win - though taking on Death Duty twice was no easy task - but a good second to Invitation Only at Fairyhouse and further progress anticipated.

DEBUCHET (Mag Mullins) Sometimes a good effort at Cheltenham takes it's toll but this fellow simply skated home in a Listed Bumper at Limerick. Will much prefer better ground too.

HARETH (Charles Byrnes) Was three years on the sidelines, and you could read his Navan run either way but he certainly knuckled down at Limerick on Thursday. Should be more to come.

On The Flat

ACE OF DIAMONDS (Dermot Weld) Came up trumps in a Leopardstown handicap and could follow up quickly at the same level.

ALPHABET (Aidan O'Brien) A smart juvenile for David Wachman, she bolted home on opening day at Naas on her first run for Ballydoyle, and really could be anything.

BENGALA (John Oxx) First winner of the season for his popular trainer when landing a Leopardstown maiden last Wednesday, and could follow up in Listed company at Navan in two weeks time.

DOWNFORCE (Willie McCreery) Won a Cork Listed sprint by a street, and will take plenty of beating on very soft going. Probably one for early and late in the season but a summer absentee due to ground requirements.

TOSCANINI (Richard Fahey) Surprisingly sent from Mick Halford's yard to act as a lead horse for Ribchester but Fahey has already discovered he's a serious horse in his own right. Ran a cracker in the Lincoln at Doncaster but more effective over shorter trips.
