We landed another super winner with Howies Hottie last week when Sulaalaat romped in by a short head at 14/1. He was primed to run well having been campaigned at a higher level most of the season.

Readers will also remember that we also landed Burren View Lady a few short weeks ago at 16/1. This means that betting to level stakes we can afford lots of losers and still make a handsome profit.

Of course we don't expect any long losing runs but if we did hit a sticky patch we can ride it out with little or no problems.

Now compare that with your average tipster and their typical short priced selections as they can't afford any losing runs and once they go under a 70% strike rate they are in the mire.

It really does make me smile when I see all those hot pot jollies put up as free tips and as soon as your average tipster hits a 3/1 winner he is shouting from the rooftops.

Let me give you a typical example based on todays racing as I could easily go for Elm Park at Sandown as my Howies Hottie however he is likely to go off a pretty hot favourite so instead I'm heading up North to Beverley for their 4.50.

It's a competitive 5 furlong handicap and the selection is Inxile from Dandy Nicholls yard. The old boy is now 10 but can still go a decent clip and I'm hoping he can get a quick start from a single figure stall and be hard to peg back.

The gelding has dropped in the ratings having won off much higher marks in the past. Having had such impressive big priced winners in recent weeks we can afford to take chances on horses like this at juicy prices as sooner or later we will hit the target again to increase our profits.

FLAT RACING

Red Galilleo trainer E.Dunlop - Ran well at Doncaster and should win soon perhaps on an easier surface.

Mississippi trainer P.Midgley - Finished strongly last time and might be worth a try over further.

Battersea trainer R.Varian - He didn't get the best of runs and the winner got first run on him and I thought him a shade unlucky.

Gabriels Kaka trainer R.Fahey - Ran well at Chester even though he would be better on a straight track.

Withernsea trainer R.Fahey - He had to come round the houses at the Curragh yet still finished strongly. He can win at 7 but might be worth a try at the mile.
